Razorback AgCademy
The Razorback AgCademy gives high school students the opportunity to access online modules that align with specific on-campus courses within the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences. The program helps students keep their tuition costs down, engages them in online learning experiences that model the U of A’s commitment to high quality teaching and learning, and exposes them to the wide array of career opportunities within various agricultural industries.
Program Requirements To be eligible for credit through Razorback AgCademy, students must meet the following criteria:
- High School Enrollment: Students must currently be high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors.
- Course Registration: Students must enroll in an AgCademy course through the Professional and Workforce Development division at Global Campus. Once enrolled, participants have up to six months from the registration date to complete their course.
- University Admission and Credit Exam: After high school graduation, students must apply to and be accepted by the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville. Upon acceptance, students should contact Hanna Estes in the Department of Agricultural Education, Communications, and Technology to schedule their course credit examinations. Note that an exam fee will be charged to the student’s financial account for each exam taken.
Program Benefits Razorback AgCademy offers significant academic and financial advantages:
- Earn College Credit: Upon successfully completing a course, students may take a course credit examination. Those achieving a score of 80% or higher will receive 3 credit hours for the corresponding course.
- Academic Advantages:
- Students can earn up to 9 credit hours for agricultural courses.
- These credits can fulfill required courses, broaden elective options for agricultural majors, or serve as general electives for students pursuing non-agricultural majors.
- By accumulating credits early, students can reduce their semester course load, improving their likelihood of academic success and potentially shortening their time to graduation.
- Financial Savings: Acquiring college credits in high school translates to substantial cost savings, reducing the overall expense of higher education.
