Python Programming for Data Science 3
Pandas for Data Analysis
In this certificate, the third of a three-certificate series, you will work with the iris dataset to learn dataframe slicing, column operations, and how to extract basic statistics using pandas. You'll create simple plots to visualize data and get a brief introduction to object-oriented programming concepts. These skills help form the foundation for working with real world data in Python.
You will use practical datasets for more advanced data manipulation. Using the Airbnb dataset, you will practice changing data types to extract meaningful insights. With the nycflights13 dataset, you'll learn how to merge different data sources and analyze flight patterns. These exercises show how Python handles the types of data challenges found in actual business environments.
Python Programming for Data Science certificates must be taken in sequence.
Python Programming for Data Science 3 is the final certificate in the series. You will not be able to access this certificate content until you have successfully completed both Python Programming for Data Science 1 and Python Programming for Data Science 2.
What You Need to Know Before Starting This Certificate
Knowledge of mathematics equivalent to a College Algebra course is recommended. Additionally to ensure success, students should:
- Be comfortable reading and understanding English, as all materials are provided in English.
- Have basic computer skills, including navigating the internet, downloading/uploading files, installing software, and using applications like Microsoft Word.
These foundational skills will help you engage fully with our primarily online certificates.
By the end of the certificate, students will:
- Install pandas and learn to read and write CSV files.
- Filter, search, and query dataframes to find specific data.
- Slice dataframes and perform column operations.
- Merge multiple dataframes to combine data sources.
- Work with Pandas data types, especially datetime functionality.
- Obtain basic statistics and create plots using built-in pandas methods.
