Preceptor Training: The Preceptor Role

  • Staff nurses play a critical role in shaping the professional development of student nurses. In this course, participants will delve into the essential roles and competencies of nurse preceptors, focusing on how to assess student learning needs and foster a growth mindset. Upon completion, learners will report an increase in knowledge about the nurse preceptor role and how to effectively support nursing students’ learning journeys.
  • This is the first course of the Preceptor Training Program, designed to equip staff nurses with the tools needed to guide and mentor student nurses. We encourage participants to take all courses in the program, in sequence, for the most comprehensive experience. Prior Learning

This noncredit course is best suited for staff nurses looking to upskill in their field. Additionally, to ensure success, students should:

  • Be comfortable reading and understanding English, as all materials are provided in English.
  • Have basic computer skills, including navigating the internet, downloading/uploading files, installing software, and using applications like Microsoft Word.
