Introduction to Data Science 2

Data Privacy and Ethics

This certificate, the second in a three-certificate series, examines how personal data is collected, tracked, and used, and the ethical questions that come with it. You will study global privacy concerns, from data breaches to the ways businesses and governments handle sensitive information. The lessons cover who is being tracked, what information is being gathered, and why it is collected. You will also explore concepts such as privacy by design, data integrity, and the balance between personal rights and organizational needs.

The certificate also explains how laws and regulations are evolving around the world to address these challenges. You will learn about major legal frameworks, such as the European Union’s GDPR and emerging protections in other regions, and how they respond to new technologies like artificial intelligence. By the end, you will understand both the ethical and legal sides of data privacy and how these shape decision-making in a connected, data-driven world.

Introduction to Data Science certificates must be taken in sequence.
Introduction to Data Science 2 is the second certificate in the series. You will not be able to access this certificate content until you have successfully completed Introduction to Data Science 1.
