Basics for Spanish Conversation Part 1

Basic Spanish Conversation I is an introductory course designed to immerse learners in the Spanish language by teaching them to think, speak, and understand Spanish fluently. The course uses simple everyday questions to guide learners in the language and culture. This course is ideal for beginners or those with minimal or no prior experience in Spanish.

Prior Learning

This noncredit course is beginner-friendly, with no prior expertise required. However, to ensure success, students should:

  • Be comfortable reading and understanding English, as all materials are provided in English.
  • Have basic computer skills, including navigating the internet, downloading/uploading files, installing software, and using applications like Microsoft Word.

These foundational skills will help you engage fully with our primarily online courses.

Objectives

  • Identify essential vocabulary words in Spanish, such as colors, numbers, personal pronouns, and the Spanish alphabet.
  • Contrast Spanish and English pronunciation.
  • Understand essential question words to start conversations.
  • Use appropriate spelling to share personal information.
