Using Zoom - Information for Attendees
Before the Conference
New to Zoom?
If you are new to the Zoom platform, please read the information provided below to familiarize yourself prior to the conference.
Zoom is a videoconferencing and telecommunications platform that allows users to make and receive video calls without paying for a subscription service. If you are familiar with other videoconference platforms such as WebEx, Skype, Microsoft Teams, or Google Hangouts, using Zoom should give you a similar experience to those platforms.
While you will be able to access the conference from any device without creating a Zoom account, we recommend signing up for a free account to familiarize yourself with the platform prior to the event. If you already have a Zoom account, feel free to use it to access the conference online.
If you are comfortable using Zoom, you can use your existing Zoom account on August 6th. Please watch your email for updates about pre-conference information as well as a link to our Zoom conference Event. For now, see the information below regarding our plans for the day-of.
Day of the Conference
Connecting to the Conference Via Zoom
In the weeks leading up to the event, important information about connecting to the conference will be provided to you via email. This information will include links to pre-conference materials and a Zoom link for joining the conference on August 6th.
Attendees accessing the conference from the web browser will be able to do so on the day of the event, but we recommend familiarizing yourself with the platform if you do not already feel comfortable with videoconferencing platforms.
Technical Troubleshooting, Specifications, and Tips
Prior to the event, please take some time to familiarize yourself with the Zoom platform. Contact information for conference officials will be provided in the weeks leading up to the conference for use if you are experiencing significant issues on August 6th. If you have questions about your devices and compatibility with Zoom, please refer to the resource links.
NOTE: We recommend connecting with a laptop or personal computer for the best experience. While most mobile devices are compatible with Zoom, the quality of the conference could be diminished when accessing from a mobile device.
