Schmieding In-Home Assistant Online Training
40-hour certification program
Includes: 24-hours of lecture designed for online delivery and 16-hours of in-person skills demonstration & assessment in pre-approved locations statewide

A person with In-Home Assistant (IHA) Training has the skills to provide companionship, safety and support for individuals who need minimal to moderate assistance. Caregivers are taught how to assist or provide the clients with basic activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, walking, light housekeeping, meal preparation and running errands.
This training satisfies the requirements of Act 1410 of the 2013 Arkansas General Assembly [codified at Ark. Code Ann. Section 20-77-2101]. It also satisfies the training requirements of the Arkansas Department of Human Services for personal care providers (PCAs). The online delivery of this course has NOT been approved by the Arkansas Office of Long Term Care for eligibility to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). The Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program was developed by the Schmieding Center for Senior Health and Education, a program of the University of Arkansas for Medical Science. The online delivery of the training program is offered in partnership with the University of Arkansas Global Campus.
