Mental Health in the Workplace Conference

Conference on Mental Health in the Workplace

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1 in 5 adults in the US experience mental health challenges every year. Unfortunately, work is often a contributing factor to mental health issues. For example, depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide. And a recent WHO-led study estimates depression and anxiety have a significant economic impact; the estimated cost to the global economy is $1 trillion per year in lost productivity.

However, there are many effective actions that organizations can take to support employees that may be struggling and promote mental health in the workplace, and such actions also help to limit risk and may also benefit productivity.

This one-day conference will examine how to:

  • Create a healthy and inclusive workplace
  • Reduce stigma through education
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of someone that may be struggling with a mental health challenge
  • Reach out to someone that may be dealing with a mental health challenge and connect them to resources
  • Properly implement employment law
  • Identify red flags that may indicate a mental health crisis that will require third party intervention
