To be successful in today's workplace, professionals from all industries must exhibit a mix of dynamic leadership skills, including understanding their own strengths and limitations, demonstrating the ability to influence people, motivating others to achieve organizational goals, exhibiting self-confidence, anticipating and managing conflicts objectively, and the ability to create effective communications.

The University of Arkansas Global Campus recognizes the importance of developing working professionals' leadership skills to help organizations maximize efficiency and to achieve organizational goals. The Emerging Leaders Certificate Program offers working professionals the opportunity to build and enhance leadership skills necessary to be successful in today's workplace.

This program is a great fit for mid-managers, new professionals, and career changers. It will benefit those who are seeking to enhance leadership skills, take on new leadership roles, or advance in their careers.

Course Topics

  • Topic 1: Adaptable leadership for a positive future
    Discover proven methods that help you adjust to altered situations and solve problems in response to the ever changing workplace.
  • Topic 2: Your leadership style
    Evaluate your leadership style and how you mesh with your team and within organizational cultures. Assess your potential strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots. Discover when your most and least effective as a leader.
  • Topic 3: Uncovering organizational behavior
    Examine the impact that you and a group have on organizational goals. Participate in an Online Leadership and Team Simulation: Everest V2, Harvard Business Publishing, Michael Roberto and Amy Edmondson (2011).
  • Topic 4: Verbal and written communication
    Explore effective communications methods to improve workplace production and satisfaction.
  • Topic 5: Negotiation and influence
    Identify the importance of negotiation and influence and examine skills necessary to become an effective negotiator.
