The trucking industry offers vast career opportunities. Through the USA Truck Career Launch Program, job seekers can apply for a scholarship to attend the Commercial Driver License (CDL) training program offered through a partnership with the University of Arkansas Global Campus, Northwest Technical Institute and Mid America Truck Driving School. Women and veterans are encouraged to apply.


USA Truck Career Launch Program will provide scholarships for 15 qualified applicants through April 2017. Scholarships pay the registration cost of the five-week CDL training program offered through the Global Campus and its partners. Classes will be offered at the Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale.

Scholarship Requirements

Pre-screening and eligibility requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
  • No more than 2 collisions in the past 3 years
  • No DUI's, DWI's or any other violations involving drugs or alcohol within the last 7 years
  • Stable work history
  • Complete an approved physical examination and drug screen as prescribed by the United States Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration


Interested parties may be ineligible if they have any of the following infractions on their driving records:

  • Major offenses.
  • Serious traffic violations (second offense).
  • Railroad-highway grade crossing offenses.
  • Violating Out-of-Service orders.
  • Violating Implied Consent laws.
  • Operating a CMV with a CDL from a decertified state.

Job Options Upon Completion

Successful CDL training program graduates who earn their commercial drivers licenses will be given preference for job opening with USA Truck. Details will be provided to scholarship recipients. A first-year driver with USA Truck has the potential to earn about $35,000 a year. Top-end, experienced owner-operators have an earning potential of $60,000 a year.
